Account information

When you create or use a Yokul account, we may collect information such as:

• Username
• Email address
• Password or authentication credentials
• Date of birth or age
• Profile photograph
• Profile information you choose to provide
• Account settings and preferences

Location information

Yokul is designed around location.

With your device permissions, Yokul may collect and process precise or approximate location information from your device.

Location information may be used to:

• Determine your current location
• Show Spots and content near you
• Determine the location associated with posts
• Create or contribute to location-based Spots
• Display relevant Town Square content
• Calculate distances
• Display maps
• Provide location-based discovery features
• Enable other functionality that depends on geographic location

Depending on your device settings and permissions, location information may be collected while you are actively using Yokul and in other circumstances permitted by your operating system and the permissions you have granted.

You can control Yokul’s access to location information through your device settings. Disabling location access may prevent certain core Yokul features from functioning properly.

Content you provide

We collect content you submit through Yokul, including:

• Photos
• Videos
• Captions
• Comments
• Spot Forum posts
• Town Square posts
• Messages
• Profile information
• Other information or content you choose to submit

Some content is intended to be publicly visible or visible to other Yokul users.

Because Yokul associates certain content with geographic locations, information you post may reveal where you were when the content was created or posted.

You should consider this before sharing content.

Communications

When you communicate with other users through Yokul, information necessary to provide those communications may be processed and stored.

Yokul uses Sendbird to support certain messaging and communication functionality.

Contacts

If Yokul offers features that allow you to find people you know through your contacts and you choose to use those features, Yokul may request permission to access information from your device contacts.

We will only access contacts after receiving the applicable device permission.

Device and usage information

We may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

• Device type
• Operating system
• App version
• IP address
• Device identifiers
• Log information
• Crash and diagnostic information
• Dates and times of access
• Features used
• Interactions with the Services

This information may be used to operate, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Yokul.

We may use information to:

• Provide and operate Yokul
• Create and maintain user accounts
• Provide location-based features
• Display nearby content and Spots
• Enable users to communicate
• Deliver notifications
• Personalize the user experience
• Maintain the security and integrity of Yokul

Yokul does not sell your personal information.

Yokul does not share personal information with third parties for their own targeted advertising purposes.

We may provide information to service providers that process information on our behalf as necessary to operate Yokul.

Yokul relies on third-party technology and service providers.

Google Maps Platform

Yokul uses Google Maps technology to provide mapping, geographic, place, and location-related functionality.

Google may process certain information when its services are used in accordance with Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies.

Sendbird

Yokul uses Sendbird technology to support messaging and communication functionality. Information necessary to provide those features may be processed by Sendbird on Yokul’s behalf.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Yokul uses Amazon Web Services for cloud infrastructure, hosting, storage, processing, and related technical services.

We may use additional service providers when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or improve Yokul.

Service providers are permitted to process information only as necessary to perform services for Yokul or as otherwise permitted by applicable law and their contractual obligations.

Although Yokul does not sell personal information, we may disclose information in limited circumstances.

Service providers

Information may be provided to companies that perform services on our behalf.

Legal requirements

We may preserve or disclose information when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to:

• Comply with applicable law
• Respond to valid legal process
• Respond to subpoenas, warrants, court orders, or lawful government requests
• Protect the rights, property, or safety of Yokul, our users, or others
• Investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms
• Prevent or address illegal or harmful activity

Business transactions

If Yokul is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

Yokul is a social network, and some information users submit is designed to be seen by others.

Depending on the feature and your settings, other users may be able to see information such as:

• Your username
• Profile photograph
• Profile information
• Photos and videos
• Posts
• Comments
• Contributions to Spots
• Spot Forum activity
• Town Square activity
• Other content you make available through Yokul

Certain Yokul content is associated with geographic locations.

Posting content to a Spot or another location-based area may therefore communicate information about the location associated with that content.

Do not post information that you do not want others to see.

Because location is central to Yokul, users should understand that participating in location-based features can reveal information about places they visit.

Yokul does not guarantee that information posted publicly or associated with a location will remain private.

You should use appropriate judgment when posting from sensitive locations, including your home, school, workplace, or another person’s private property.

Users should never use Yokul to stalk, harass, threaten, track, or endanger another person.

Yokul is not intended for children under 13.

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use the Services in your country or jurisdiction if that age is higher.

If we learn that a person below the applicable minimum age has created an account, we may suspend or delete the account and associated information.

Teen users should exercise particular care when sharing information that could reveal their location, school, home, routines, or other sensitive information.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• Provide the Services
• Maintain your account
• Fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy
• Maintain security and prevent abuse
• Resolve disputes
• Enforce agreements
• Meet legal obligations

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is maintained.

Yokul provides users with the ability to delete their accounts.

When you request full account deletion, Yokul will delete your account and personal data associated with your account, including user-generated content associated with the account, subject to limited information we may be legally required or permitted to retain.

Certain information may temporarily remain in backups or technical systems until those systems are overwritten or cycled through their normal retention process.

We may also retain limited information where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our Terms where permitted by law.

Yokul uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information.

However, no electronic transmission, application, database, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should immediately notify Yokul if they believe their account has been compromised.

Yokul is available internationally.

Your information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where Yokul or its service providers operate.

Those countries may have privacy laws different from those in your country.

Where required by applicable law, we will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to:

• Access personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete information
• Obtain a copy of certain information
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
